Oct 31: Virender Sehwag’s father Kishan Sehwag passed away on Tuesday following a massive heart attack. The heartbreaking moment came at a time, when Virender Sehwag made his comeback into the Indian cricket team and the family was overjoyed with the baby’s birth.
The situation turned everyone into grief. Sehwag's father Kishan died around 2.30 pm at his Najafgarh residence. He was 70. Sehwag and his brothers were at his bedside when he breathed last.
The Delhi opener, who staged a comeback in the national team for the first two one-dayers against Pakistan, could not attend the felicitation programmes for the World Cup winning Twenty20 cricket team at the residences of President, Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi during the day.
Sehwag's Ranji Trophy teammates and his close friends attended the cremation.
"He was not feeling well because of low blood pressure and was put on glucose in the morning by a doctor. But he suddenly had a heart attack at around 2.20 p.m. and died before we could call a doctor again," a relative of Sehwag, said.
The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) Secretary S P Bansal and Sports Secretary Sunil Dev have condoled the death.
Sehwag is scheduled to lead Delhi against the Pakistani team in their tour opener limited overs warm-up match at the Ferozeshah Kotla on Friday, but now it is uncertain whether he would be playing or not.
