Dehradun, Oct. 24 (ANI): The CBI on Saturday arrested four policemen in Dehradun, who were allegedly involved in killing an MBA student in a fake encounter three months ago.
The arrested cops were produced before the special judicial magistrate and have been remanded to 14-day judicial custody.
State police has alleged that the CBO is deliberately harassing the policemen.
"The CBI is harassing because the four policemen were willingly ready to surrender (a week back) but the CBI did not take them into custody as they didn't have evidence. Now suddenly they have produced evidence against them in four days, which is surprising to note. This procedure of CBI is not acceptable to us," said Surat Singh Negi, counsel of the state police.
On October 14, a Special Investigation Team arrested three policemen related to the case.
In total seven policemen have been arrested by the CBI to track Ranbir's murder.
Twenty-two -year-old Ranbir, an MBA student, who was also working for a private bank, was shot dead by Dehradun Police on July 3 in the Ladpur jungles.
Uttarakhand Police claim Ranbir was shot dead in an encounter after he fled with a sub-inspector's service revolver.
The state government ordered a CBI inquiry after Ranbir's family alleged that the encounter was a fake.
According to the autopsy report, Ranbir's body had 12 bullet marks and 27 other injures.
The SIT did not find any criminal record against Ranbir during their investigations. (ANI)
