New Delhi, Oct 22 (ANI): The Delhi High Court has reserved its order on the bail plea of Vikas Yadav, serving life imprisonment in the Nitish Katara murder case.
Vikas pleaded for interim bail for three months to take part in the marriage ceremony of his sister, Bharti Yadav, on November 1.
A Division Bench headed by Justice Anil Kumar reserved its order on Vikas plea after hearing his contentions and argument of Delhi Police, which opposed to granting any relief to him.
On May 30, the Patiala House Court had awarded life sentence to Vikas, the son of Uttar Pradesh politician D P Yadav and his cousin Vishal Yadav.
Vikas and Vishal had allegedly abducted Katara, the son of an IAS officer, from a marriage party in Ghaziabad on the intervening night of February 16-17, 2002.
The victim's body was later recovered from a village in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr District.
According to the prosecution, Katara, a business executive, was killed by the two accused, as they did not approve of their sister Bharti Yadav's growing proximity with him. Vikas has also been convicted in Jessica Lal murder case and sentenced to four years of imprisonment by the Delhi High Court for destruction of evidence. (ANI)
