Ranchi, Oct 13(ANI): Maoist rebels on Tuesday blew up a railway track between the Dania and the Jogeshwar railway stations under Dhanbad Division of East Central Railway in Jharkhand.
The powerful explosion damaged about one-metre of the track, which led to disruption of rail traffic for over 11 hours.
"Maoists blew up the railway track at around 12:20 in night. The damage took place between the Dania and the Jogeshwar railway stations. The communications remained snapped. Workers are working to restore the damaged track," said Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Inspector of Railway Protection Force.
Earlier, the banned Communist Party of India -Maoist (CPI-M) had given a call for two-day shutdown in Jharkhand and Bihar Jharkhand in protest against the Centre's alleged effort to put down their movement by force.
Maoists have been ignoring the repeated calls to renounce violence and negotiate across the table. So much so, they have stepped up their attacks in recent past months, prompting the government to go after them in an intensive strike.
Meanwhile, tight security arrangements have been made in Bihar and Jharkhand to avoid any further incident. (ANI)
