Vadakara (Kozhikode), Oct 4 (ANI): A North Korean ship, Hyang Ro, has been detained by the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard off the coast of Kerala at Vadakara in Kozhikode district.
According to a Navy spokesperson, a North Korean ship was detained after it anchored in Indian waters without mandatory clearance from authorities. It cited an internal leak in its tanks for the action.
The vessel, owned by the Sinhung Shipping of North Korea, anchored in Indian waters on October 2. It was proceeding to Port Bin Qasim in Pakistan from Colombo.
The Indian Navy, Coast Guard, police, intelligence agencies and port authorities are examining the ship, which is approximately of 9,000 tons, a spokesperson added. (ANI)
