Vijaywada, Oct 3 (ANI): Floods have displaced hundreds of people in Andhra Pradesh.
Over 100 villages in Krishna District are facing the threat of being submerged by the floodwater.
The Prakasam Barrage built across the Krishna River, near Vijaywada, is in danger of being over flooded as it receiving thousand cusecs of water from the Nagarjuna Sagar and the Srisailam dams.
Excess water is being released from the barrage as fears of inundation of villages in Krishna District looms large.
The district administration has already pressed the alarm button in villages along the riverbed and also evacuated thousands of people to safer areas.
Fvacuated people have been temporarily put up in a school in Ibrahimpattnam village near Vijaywada. People, however are complaining that there are no basic amenities like food and water.
They have accused the district administration of negligence.
The flood situation in other parts of Andhra Pradesh continues to be grim with Kurnool town facing the possibility of complete submergence.
The temple town of Mantralayam in Kurnool District remains under water while waters from the Kondu River are threaten another town Nandyal, which is about 100 km from Kurnool. (ANI)
