Oct 26: The Canada based wrestlers when found nobody to fight started to assault Indian journalists after hurling abuses at them and on India in a rare tussle at a press meet called up by the organisers of the Wrestling event here on Thursday.

A troupe of wrestlers, who are the part of the Universal Wrestling Stars, which is touring Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Patiala, went out of control after their proposed and much publicised event was called off due to district authorities in the respective cities, as they were denied permission to organise the tournament.

The enraged wrestlers emitted their anger on the journalists who were present at the press conference, in an upscale hotel, abusing India and the Indian authorities.

The organisers had already sold the tickets of the event even though they didn't have the required permission from the concerned authorities.

A wrestler Nikita from Russia charged towards the media persons and in fact physically lifted one of the TV cameramen and later he abused India and Indians to which the journalists objected.

Nikita then assaulted the scribes and also took off his shirt flexing his muscles, which resulted in the scuffle between the two sides. He also got into a fight with Indian-born wrestler Tiger Jeet Singh from the US and his supporters.

"This is not a joke, we have taken over 16 hours flights to reach here and the event has been cancelled. I am here to kill somebody, who wants to die today? You ugly people, I am here to kill somebody. You chicken Indians, come fight with me," Nikita, the culprit used these words during the scuffle.

The police had to be called up to disintegrate the fight. The media persons demanded that the wrestlers should be booked for insulting the country.

The police did not register a case till Thursday evening. However, a pacifying meeting has been arranged on Friday between the journalists and the wrestlers who are apparently ready to apologise for the incident.
