Chennai, Sep. 26 (ANI): India will host the ninth World Tamil Conference early next year in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi has said.
India is playing host to the event after a gap of 15 years in which prominent Tamil intellectuals are expected to debate on key subjects such as linguistics and culture.
The Star Online quoted Karunanidhi as saying that the event would be held in January or February in Tamil Nadu's second largest city, Coimbatore, about 500 kilometres from Chennai.
He added that Tamil Nadu last hosted the event in Thanjavur in 1995.
Malaysia has hosted the international meet twice. The first conference was held in Kuala Lumpur in 1966 and the last one in 1987, the paper said. (ANI)
