People hail new train service between Agartala-Dharmanagar in Tripura

Agartala, Sep.25 (ANI): With peace gradually returning to Tripura, the pace of development has picked up and it promises a bright future for the people of the State.

 

Following the withdrawal of the 16-year-old system of escorting vehicles on the major Assam-Agartala national highway 44, a new morning train service between Agartala and Tripura' s northern end Dharmanagar has been commenced.

 

The new train service started by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has come as a blessing for thousands of commuters.

 

Union Minister of State for Shipping Mukul Roy recently flagged off the first train from Agartala Railway station.

 

With the commencement of the service, four trains would ply from Agartala to Dharmanagar, Badarpur, Silchar and Lumding daily.

 

"This new train service that starts in the morning is a big step and the people of Agartala till Sabroom (southern most corner) will be benefited. Businessmen, students, office-goers, and farmers every one will benefit from this new service," said Dilip Kumar, Passenger, Tripura.With the starting of rail service Tripura is fast developing. And the addition of the morning train is a great help for patients, students, and businessmen. Everyone is going to be benefited. We thank the Central government which along with the state government has started this new service," said Phani Saha, a local resident.

 

The Tripura Government also plans to upgrade the train services, ensure that schedules are followed and expedite the gauge conversion work between Lumding and Agartala. By Pinaki Das (ANI)
