Kushinagar, Sept 21 (ANI): Dancers from Thailand's Mahasarakham University enthralled audiences at a Buddhist museum in Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district.

Eight dancers presented seven types of Thai folk dances like Sao-Sarakham Lam Pleon, Pra Ram Tam Khwang, Ram Manohrah Buchayan, Srivichai Dance, Peacock Dance, For Ma-Lai and Phu Tai Sam Pao.

Sumina Stemt, assistant professor and team director of the University said that the event aimed to create a strong bonding between India and Thailand.

"We are very satisfied with the way audience reacted. We feel that the audience is very happy and enjoyed our performance very much. We would like to come here as often as we can," said Stemt.

Thai folk dances such as Pra Ram Tam Khwang include many episodes from the Ramayana, which kept the audience captivated.

"The performances were very entertaining. The audience was spellbound with their presentation. They presented their traditional folk dances, which were remarkable, and we appreciate their efforts. This is for the first time that artists from Thailand have come to perform in Kushinagar," said Shanti Singh, a spectator.

Others added that this event would strengthen ties between both countries.

"India should organize these programmes more often so that both the nations can share their cultural heritage. This will also strengthen the ties between the nations so that when the Indian artists perform in Thailand, they can understand the Thai culture," said Jitendra Yadav, another spectator.

These artists from the Mahasarakham University have performed in many places like the US, Canada, Spain and Singapore. (ANI)
