Hyderabad, Sep 17 (ANI): To promote awareness among people on the benefits of solar energy, the Union Government has decided to set up solar energy panels at important shrines in the country like Tirupathi, Vaishnodevi and Shirdi.
Speaking after inaugurating the semi-conductor manufacturing facility, at the Fab City here on Thursday, Union New and Renewable Energy Minister, Farooq Abdullah said the installation of the solar energy equipments at famous shrines is aimed at highlighting the importance of renewable energy sources and to promote the use of solar energy among the masses.
The Central Government has also decided to give one crore rupees to each state for installation of solar energy equipments at the Raj Bhavan in their respective states, Abdullah added.
He informed that the Centre is also planning to provide funds to set up similar equipments at the state secretariats and legislature buildings.
The Solar Energy policy of the Union Government would be unveiled on November14, the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
The policy is expected to help the government in promoting solar energy in the country. (ANI)
