Escaped white tigress brought back to Aurangabad Zoo

Aurangabad , Fri, 24 Jul 2009 ANI

Aurangabad, July 24 (ANI): The white tigress, which had escaped from its cage during the early Friday morning, has been recaptured after a three-hour long operation.

The 18-acre zoo in the Siddharth Garden of Aurangabad is always choc-a-block with people.

However, since it was early in the morning when Rani (tigress's name) broke the cage, a big tragedy was averted from taking place.

Rani was corralled and brought back to the cage after a three-hour joint operation by the zoo, municipal and forest departments.

The lioness went prowling on the ground early in the morning about 6 'o clock after a rain-soaked wall of its enclosure caved in due to continuous drizzle for the past three days.

"The guy who exchanged duty with me in the morning came running and told me that the white tigress has broke out from the enclosure. I went running to the enclosure and saw the entire wall had caved in. Then I checked the enclosure next to it where there were three cubs and one of them about to escape from the opening caused by the caved in wall. I shifted the cubs to another cage then chased the white tigress," said Abdul Rahim, keeper of the white tigress.

The administration has ordered an investigation into the whole episode. (ANI)
