Bhopal June 17 (ANI): The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Bhopal has framed a charge sheet against underworld don Abu Salem in connection with a fake passport case.
Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, defence lawyer Jiten Soni said that the court has issued a charge sheet against Salem under Sections 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and also under Section 12 B of the Indian Passport Act.
"June 22, 23 and 25 have been fixed for recording statements of witnesses for the prosecution," he added.
It was also confirmed that the statements of six witnesses will be recorded on the first day while five more will depose on the second day and four others on the third day.
Meanwhile, the Public Prosecutor Satish Dinkar said that Abu Salem may have denied of all the charges levelled against him and his lies will be nailed when the court cross-examines his statements.
Salem would be taken to Hyderabad where he is standing trial in another fake passport case against him.
Earlier, the Central bureau of Investigation (CBI) had issued a production warrant against Salem in the 15-year-old case.
Salem, his wife Damira Zumani and others are accused of procuring passports on the basis of fake documents from the regional passport office at Lucknow.
He is convicted for the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case and killing of music baron Gulshan Kumar 1997. (ANI)
