Bokaro, June 12 (ANI): Carrying out a second major strike in last three days, Maoists killed at least nine policemen and injured 10 others in an attack on a Public Sector Unit bank and a subsequent landmine blast in Jharkhand's Bokaro city on Friday.

The Maoists, who are observing a Bandh in six States including Jharkhand, attempted to loot the State Bank of India (SBI) branch at Phusro after money was brought there from the Bermo branch of the bank, said Bokaro's Superintendent of Police, L. P. Singh on Friday.

As two policemen of the escort party stepped out of the bank after depositing the money the Maoists attacked them and killed them, he said.

The killed were part of the additional reinforcement being rushed to the spot.

Senior most police officials said the exact figure of policemen killed is yet to be known.
