Clashes among CPI (M), Trinamool supporters in West Bengal districts

Bankura, June 12 (ANI): Ahead of Clashes between supporters of CPI(M) and its rivals-the People's Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA) and the Trinamool Congress-took place in West Bengal's Durgapur and Bankura Districts on Friday and led to arson, police said here on Friday.

 

CPI(M) activists allegedly torched houses of the People's Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA) at Akkuda village, 40 kilometres from Bankura town, yesterday (Thursday), police said.

 

The PCPA had given a call for Bandh in the village on Thursday in protest against alleged attacks launched on them by the CPI(M), which the latter opposed; leading to clash.

 

According to local police officials, Though no one has been injured but the villagers owing allegiance to the PCPA have fled their village after the incident. eanwhile, a report from Durgapur said three CPI(M) activists, who had defected to the rival Trinamool Congress after the Lok Sabha poll results, were allegedly beaten up by CPI(M) cadres near Durgapur town on Thursday.

 

Trinamool Congress supporters alleged that the party leaders Nimayi Mondal and Prabhat Ghosh, who went to lodge a complaint with the police against the incident, were also allegedly beaten up by CPI(M) leaders with lathis inside the Pandaveswar police station in the presence of Station Officer-in-Charge Arnab Guha.
