Big B served notice against his campaign ‘UP Mein Hai Dum’

Oct 03 : Big B is again in the lime light but not for getting any award nor any new releases nor for doing some initiative performance that he has done in his some recent movies, but this time he is in the news because of his campaign done during the election ‘UP Mein Hai Dum’ in which he pronounced the reduced level of crime in the state during Mulayam Singh government.

The Uttar Pradesh Information Commission has sought an explanation from Amitabh Bachchan to a Right to Information application, seeking to know on what basis he claimed in a campaign ‘UP Me Hai Dum’ that crime was low in Uttar Pradesh.

The state information commission has asked Amitabh to give the explanation within a fortnight.

According to RTI act individuals are not covered by the RTI act and it can be only sought from public authority. This is the first instance when an individual has been asked to reply to a RTI application by other individuals.

The application was filed by Brijbhusan of Gazipur against the campaign that claims “UP Mein Hai Dum, Kyunki Jurm Hai Yahan Kam”. He sought to know the basis of the report on which he claimed that crime was low in UP.

The information regarding the payment made to Bachchan for doing the campaign and nature of his contact with the electronic channels was also sought by the complainant.

This ad campaign was aired by news channel before assembly election during Mulayam’s regime.

M.A. Khan, UP Chief Information Commissioner has served notice to the Superstar to either reply to the complainant before October 15 or appears before the commission on the next date of hearing.

In an interview by a popular TV channel, Bachchan said that his campaign was based on a report on crime, which said that the crime rate in UP is receding.

Bachchan also face charges against acquiring village land in Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh while claiming to be a farmer.

He filed a complaint against his agent Vijay Shukla, alleging that Shukla has misused his power of attorney and had bought this farmland by furnishing fake documents.

With the controversies evading from all corner of his home states, Bachchan seems to be determined to stand against all the controversies.
