20 armed forces medical teams rushed to help 'Aila' victims

New Delhi, June 3 (ANI): Acting upon the request of West Bengal Government, the Ministry of Defence has dispatched 20 medical teams of armed forces personnel to the Aila affected areas of North and South 24 Parganas district of the State.

 

Armed forces have already pressed into service four Gemini Boats in cyclone affected areas to distribute relief material.

 

Besides this, army and coast guard boats are on standby to be pressed into service at short notice.

 

Due to cyclone induced heavy flood, 895 km length of embankment was washed away.

 

The State Government has sought technical advice from the army for its reconstruction.

 

An engineering task force of the army has already visited the affected areas to provide expert technical advice.

 

Two columns of the army and eight divers from the Indian navy are already engaged in providing relief and rescue. (ANI)
