Uttar Pradesh is the largest state of India in terms of population, and numbers of constituencies (403) in legislative assembly. In Parliament too, Uttar Pradesh has highest number of seats (80) that depicts the importance of this state in Indian politics.

The next legislative assembly election in Uttar Pradesh is schedule to 2012 and the preparations have begun well before the declaration of the date. Currently Mayawati is ruling Uttar Pradesh, as her party Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) won last assembly election held on 2007 with over 50% of seats.

In last assembly election, BSP won 206 seats out of 403 while Samajwadi Party (SP) was on the second position by capturing 97 seats while Bhartiya Janta Party (51) was on the third position. India's largest national party Indian National Congress (INC) was on the fourth position by securing mere 22 seats.

According to media reports, all the parties are tightening their belts for UP Election 2012 and trying all mechanism to elope the public including beginning the election campaign and wooing speeches. The political parties have raised their criticism attack and began to give the show away to one another.

There are likely to an estimated 1,13,549,350 electoral rolls and 1,10,654 polling station in the UP Election 2012.

With the beginning of the New Year (2012) the ardency regarding UP Election news will be risen. The Congress is trying hard to improve the results of 2007 UP assembly election this time by promoting youth icon and Congress National Secretary Rahul Gandhi before the voters.

The results of UP Election 2012 will play a crucial role in centre where state has maximum number (80) of Lok Sabha (Parliamentary seats) in the country.

The other parties that are likely to exercise in 2012 UP Election are: Rastriya Lok Dal (RLD), Indian National Lok Dal (INLO), Rashtriya Janda Dal - Secular (RJD-S) and Rashtriya Janta Dal United (RJD- U), Shiv Sena, Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India Marxist (CPI(M)) etc..
