More detail about Zambia
Manmade Problems are Harming Zambia
Zambia has experienced a substantial growth over the years. This comes from the many mining activities in the country. These activities have produced such critical minerals as copper and cobalt. These critical elements have been used in many different engineering processes.
These are important but at the same time they have impacted Zambia in a negative manner. They have impacted the quality of life in Zambia and have even caused the average lifespan of people in the country to be relatively limited due to health risks.
The air pollution in Zambia is higher than what it is in most other countries due to a lack of emission control. This massive amount of pollution has caused acid rain to occur throughout the country. This has made it so the country is dealing with tougher conditions for growing crops and other materials. Also, much of the land where this acid rain is developing in comes from areas where mining does take place in.
There are also concerns about the chemicals that are being produced during the mining process. Some chemicals that are used in mining processes are running into watery areas of the land. This is critical because the water masses around Zambia are relatively minimal. Zambia is not on any shoreline. It is completely landlocked within a series of other countries around the southern part of Africa. This is especially worse because of the drought conditions that Zambia is used to experiencing.
There are no real water treatment plants around Zambia either. This means that the water in some parts of Zambia is exceptionally dangerous. This is especially the case for water in areas that are near refineries and mining areas. This has caused the average life expectancy of people in Zambia to be a little over fifty years of age.
