Military Service is Required for Men in Turkey

Turkey is one of a few countries in the world where military service is mandatory for some members of the population. This is critical because Turkey is a country that is essentially the bridge between Europe and the Middle East. Its proximity near many different affairs in the Middle East makes it an important country to review with regards to its military.

Turkish law states that all men in Turkey between the ages of 19 and 41 must enter the military. Military service duration periods will vary by each person. This depends primarily on the position that a person is in. For example, a private will have to follow fifteen months of military service.
