When the country had a series of progressive development over their infrastructure and was investing appropriately alongside with apt financial funding, the country was seriously known to be one of the world?s leading exporters of agricultural crops, vegetables, fruits, and cotton. This kind of massive production is possible due to the infrastructure built for an extensive supply of irrigation, commonly found on the northern part of the country. Syria also cultivates cumin, barley, sugar beets, chickpeas, mutton, olives, wheat and some poultry such as chicken, eggs, and milk. It is true that the soils of this land are rich enough to grow enough production of crops, of course, coupled with a proper irrigation system.
Moreover, Syria also has a lot of reserves for oil. Primarily this mineral is where the country gets its major source of foreign revenue as huge companies and even domineering countries like the United States had already invested for their oil.
Unfortunately, despite the generated businesses it seems that the existing industries are not enough to compensate for the unemployment rate. Only some portion of the population are given jobs opportunities proving that poverty is still relatively high.
The country is still at the point where they still need assistance from other countries in order to slowly stabilize their economy.
