Pakistan in Need of Reformation
Pakistan is not a developed country by any means. They have a high level of population with a very low income. Only about half of the adults are literate and the average life expectancy hasn't reached 65 years. While the unemployment rate isn't as high as some other countries, the rate of inflation and low wages make it difficult to create suitable living standards. This country is in need of change.
There are various causes of the inflation that Pakistan has been facing. The prices for utilities and food have gone up drastically and the currency of the country has deflated. The government has not been spending adequate amounts of money on social services plus the high population growth has left the nation experiencing great levels of poverty. This poverty and underdevelopment are bad in the cities but even worse in the rural areas. These issues are creating major concerns.
Pakistan has been taking some steps to start liberalizing its investment and trading plans. These plans concern unilateral plans as well as those pertaining to the World Trade Organization. The country has received large grants and loans over the years from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the IMF. There have also been various bilateral donors especially once it began using its financial and military resources for the efforts with counterterrorism.
In the last ten years, there have been reforms with privatizing various government-owned institutes and utilities and to reform the banking sector. They also put forth an anti-money laundering law that is world class. There have been increases in the level of exports lately which put the country in good favor for investments. Unfortunately with recent political events, there is an uncertain future for this country with many aspects. This is something that only time will tell and it might take years to find out.
