Possible Growth for Mongolia in the Tourism Sector
In the past, the basics of the economy have been based on agriculture and livestock. More recently there has been development of various deposits of minerals. These minerals include coal, copper, tin, molybdenum, gold and tungsten. These have brought on new drives from the industrial production sector.
At the time of the Soviet Union coming apart, Mongolia had Soviet assistance. This disappeared and they went into a very deep recession. Once they took on the free market system, their economy recovered to some extent. There was privatization like never before and it worked well.
This economic recovery was stalled in 2000-2001 by extreme winter weather and summer draughts. There were many herds of livestock that died during this time. There were millions of dollars of livestock lost thus increasing the meat prices. In fact, the price for meat doubled. In 2009, there were still many difficulties as the revenue dropped but in 2010, things seemed to get a bit better. The revenues increased by seven percent ? something that is not only usual but of very good help for this country.
While Mongolia?s economy is dominated by trade and service industries, there is one industry that might be soon coming to a front. This country has a beauty and a uniqueness that will soon be used to its advantage. There is a lot of potential in the growth of tourism. The prices for foreign or international visitors would be quite low compared to other tourist sites thus adding an advantage to taking a vacation in Mongolia. There are plenty of sites to see and lots of activities for those who are interested.
There are other industries that Mongolia has shown an interest in. Because the financial crisis seems to be over for this country, there are many more foreign investors showing an interest. Some of this is concerning its mineral wealth, others over its proximity to China, while others are gearing towards the tourism industry.
