More detail about Greece
Greece Economy Assisted by Euro
Prior to 2002, Greece was considered as a country at high risk for inflation but
that all changed when they adopted the Euro. This adoption gave them access to
loans with competitive rates as well as access to the low rates offered by
Eurobond market. All of this led to an increase in consumer spending and
economic growth.
Unfortunately the global financial crisis did some damage to the economy. The
access to these low rate loans declined to some degree as did the average
consumption by the locals.
Greece has a number of natural resources that contribute to its economy
including oil, marble, magnesite, lignite and bauxite. They also grow a number
of different types of products. Examples of these products are cotton, grapes,
oranges, peaches, tomatoes, olives, sugar beets, wheat, raisins, and tobacco.
They process olive oil and they have cattle farms where they produce dairy
products.
They have a number of different manufacturing plants involved in a variety of
goods. They produce various processed foods, textiles, shoes, chemicals, metals,
cement glass, and other such things. Greece is involved with the manufacturing
of electrical power and in construction.
The types of services offered in Greece are growing. At the moment, the majority
of their revenue is brought in by the communications, trade, banking, public
administration, defense, transportation and tourism industry. Tourism in general
might have declined since the crisis but Greece still has good numbers of
tourists visiting each year to take advantage of the sunshine and the activities
offered.
Once the financial crisis reduces in strength, Greece can look forward to a
brighter future. The Euro brought it some fortune in the past and it can do the
same again with the increase in its different sectors. The strength of the Euro
will help with this situation as it will also promote the traveling of others to
this area.
