Ustad Amjad Ali Khan is a distinguished player in Indian classical music world. He is one of the most noted musicians having a vast knowledge in playing sarod and its varied performance. He developed a unique style of playing highly complex phrases (ekhara taans) with the Sarod in which compositions are based on vocal music. He made his debut in the sarod recital at a mere age of six.
Amjad Khan was born in 1945 in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh in the royal family of Hafiz Khan with a rich heritage of music and art for more than three generations. Thus, it was quite natural in the case of Amjad to be chained by the influence and magical beauty of art and music. Mesmerized by the amazing rasas (emotions) and ragas of playing sarod, Amjad finally bent towards this music and became the unbeatable master of Sarod.
