Vaishali is one of the most holy pilgrimage destination for Buddhist religious place. In the city of Vaishali you can find some ruins of Buddha Stupa which has significant places in the ancient history. The city of Vaishali, Bihar paid great influence the life of Buddha and Lord Buddha visited here on several occasions. Tourist as well as Buddhism people visited this holy pilgrimage destination to take a glimpses of Buddha stupa and other monuments.

There are two Stupa in Vaishali, which is dedicated to Lord Buddha that contain sacred ashes Gautam Buddha. These two Buddha Stupa witnessed to contains sacred ashes( imminence) of Mahaparinirvana Lord Buddha. In 1958, during excavation another casket containing the ashes of Lord Buddha was discovered.

Due to its connection from Lord Buddha, Mauryan ruler also gives proper attention to Vaishali, Bihar. The great ruler Ashoka made a Lion pillar in Kolhua village of Vaishali. The 18.3 m high structure has been made of a highly polished single piece of red sandstone. It is believed that the stupa has been made in commemorates Buddha's last sermon.

It is believed that Vaishali hosted the second great Buddhist council in ancient history and Stupas were erected to commemorate this mega event.
