Beijing, Mar 4(ANI): The Chinese foreign ministry on Sunday released a six-point statement for the political resolution of the crisis in Syria.
The six-point statement focuses on ceasing the violence in Syria especially against innocent civilians, unconditional political dialogue through impartial mediation from the Joint Special Envoy of the United Nations (UN) and the Arab League (AL), disapproval of any kind of armed intrusion from any foreign force, supporting the active efforts made by the Arab states and the AL to promote a political solution to the crisis and members of the Security Council strictly abiding by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and the basic norms governing international relations
"China follows closely the developments of the situation in Syria, firmly maintains that the current crisis should be resolved through political dialogue in a peaceful and appropriate manner, and has made unremitting efforts to this end", China Daily quoted a Chinese Foreign Ministry official, as saying on condition of anonymity.
The official further pointed out that as long as violent clashes persists, political dialogue cannot start.
"It is deeply worrying that the situation in Syria remains grave. China is a responsible country and a friend of the Arab people, including the Syrian people. China adheres to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and the basic norms governing international relations," the official said. (ANI)
