Gulf-Middle East, Mon, 04 May 2009 IANS

Dubai, May 4 (IANS) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has tightened security at airports to spot passengers infected with the deadly influenza A(H1N1) virus, also called swine flu, WAM reported.

Officials at Dubai airports said they are working closely with the health department to detect suspected cases of swine flu.

Thermal imaging cameras were installed at Dubai International Airport to screen passengers arriving from the affected areas, officials said.

The airline companies have been requested to inform passengers about the preventive measures being implemented at Dubai airports.

Airlines have also been urged to announce children onboard a flight to facilitate their screening at airports.

Nearly 1,000 confirmed cases of swine flu have been reported from Asia, Europe, South America and the US. Twenty-two people in Mexico and one person in the US have died of the deadly flu.
