Peshawar, Sat, 13 Dec 2008 ANI

Peshawar, Dec.13 (ANI): Personnel of Pakistan's Frontier Constabulary have expressed reluctance to postings at terminals in Peshawar that contain trucks/lorries with supplies for NATO troops in Afghanistan.

"FC didn't possess enough personnel that could enable it to post its men for the security of terminals," the Deputy Commandant of the Frontier Constabulary, Rahmat Khan was quoted by The News, as saying.

"The FC's main responsibility is to safeguard the borders of the tribal and administered areas, and with its existing strength, FC personnel cannot be posted for the security of the terminals," he added.

The FC is striving to help the police in this regard, The News said in a report.Terminals with NATO supply- laden- trucks have experienced attacks this month.

Police have tightened security around these terminals located on Peshawar's Ring Road, but the security is said to be insufficient.Security forces have been deployed at key points in the area, instead of being positioned at every terminal along the road.

Over 200 NATO supply-laden trucks have been destroyed so far. (ANI)
