Washington,Dec.12: Javaid Iqbal, a Pakistani TV technician working in Long Island, New York, at the time of the 9/11 attacks, has challenged his arrest, interrogation and expulsion from the country in a suit filed by him before the Supreme Court of the United States of America.Meanwhile, a Government lawyer has pleaded that the US attorney general and the FBI chief should not be subjected to lawsuits filed by Arab Muslims held after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a Daily Times report says.

Several Arab Muslims have charged that they were singled out for harsh treatment because of their religion and ethnicity.

"The oral arguments in the case produced a spirited debate, as justices pondered the reach of civil lawsuits targeting public officials who allegedly abuse civil rights, the ability of the nation's leaders to go about their work without harassment and whether the balance is altered, the Washington Post reports, in the words of Justice Antonin Scalia.(ANI)
