Paris, Jan 14 (ANI): French first lady Carla Bruni has given the biggest hint yet that her husband Nicolas Sarkozy will stand for presidential re-election, saying she 'would be right by his side' if he chooses to stand.
"If he needs me, I'll be there," said the first lady on her first official engagement since giving birth to their daughter Guilia in October.
"If my husband announces his candidacy, I will participate as much as possible," she added.
According to The Telegraph, praising Sarkozy's "superhuman abilities" in his "very difficult job", she said that "he has changed a lot over the past four years, because it's the kind of job that would change anyone."
"It would change a tree or a stone," she added.
According to the report, recently conducted polls placed Nicolas Sarkozy just two percentage points ahead of Marine Le Pen, the National Front leader.
Elys?e sources suggest Sarkozy intends to throw down the gauntlet at the last possible moment, five or six weeks before the first round on April 22. (ANI)
