Washington, Jan.11 (ANI): "The Obamas," by New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor, which went on sale Tuesday, has revealed that the White House was a "hostile" workplace for women.

Many women in the Obama White House during its earliest months complained about sexism and an inhospitable workplace, Anita Dunn, Obama's first communications director, is quoted as saying.

Though Dunn later took issue with the quote, other women in the White House also expressed concerns documented by Kantor, Alter and others.

After a New York Times article in the fall of 2009 portrayed the West Wing as a boys' club, Obama had dinner with his top female aides.

Some focused on the way they were being treated; others said the men in charge were damaging Obama's presidency. (ANI)
