Islamabad, Jan 8(ANI): The Defence of Pakistan Council (DPC) has warned of the countrywide protests if the government re-opens the NATO supply route on its border with Afghanistan.
The Pakistan government has sealed its NATO supply route as a response to the November 26 NATO airstrike that had killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.
The DPC, which comprises the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Jamaatud Dawa (JuD), Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat, made the demand in a joint declaration adopted at a meeting.
The DPC leaders warned they would oppose any move to re- open the route and added that they would launch a mass awareness campaign against the "terrorism", which is "covertly sponsored" by India and the United States.
The said that the meetings would be held in Rawalpindi on January 22, Multan on January 29 and Karachi on February 12, The Daily Times reports.
The DPC leaders urged the government to strengthen ties with China and the Islamic countries rather than with the US.
They added that the government should settle the Kashmir issue and river water dispute with India. (ANI)
