Islamabad, Jan 7(ANI): The much-awaited film Kaptaan based on cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan's life is slated to be released across Pakistan in February.
Sources told the Express Tribune that the film is currently in the post- production stage after being delayed several times over production issues.
Kaptaan's communication agent Amar Tareen said the film's final shots would be taken in Islamabad, Mianwali and Lahore.
"Our intention is to release the film first in the major cinemas of Pakistan and then move on to distribution options on a global level," Tareen said.
He pointed out that local distributors have evinced keen interest in the movie, but the team has not made any commitment yet due to unexpected delays in production.
Tareen dismissed claims that the film is slated for release amid Imran Khan's surging popularity.
"People were saying that we should release later as it would coincide with the elections but we are still going according to the plan. The film is a tribute to a personality that is defined by his leadership and charisma and should not be taken as a political venture," Tareen added.
He also pointed out that the film is not funded by any external or political party, and added that it is a private venture with a nominal budget. (ANI)
