Islamabad, Jan 2(ANI): At least 606 people were killed and over 1,000 injured in 41 suicide attacks carried out by 51 suicide bombers in Pakistan in 2011, an official report has said.

The Pakistan's Conflict Monitoring Center (CMC) report said 59 percent of the dead were innocent civilians.

The report added that 33 Pakistan army soldiers, 100 Frontier Corp (FC) and 54 policemen were killed in these suicide attacks, the report added.

The report pointed out that northwestern Khyber Pakhuntawa Province (KPK) witnessed the highest number of suicide attacks and subsequent deaths.

The report said the number of suicide attacks has declined over the past two years butarch witnessed the highest number of suicide attacks numbering six and killing 92 people.

"Deadliest single month of the year was May when 144 people died in 4 suicide attacks. Al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden was killed in May and it is believed that several revenge attacks were carried out after his death in a U.S. military raid," Xinhua quoted the report, as saying.

The report found that the number of suicide attacks in Afghanistan were 2.5 times higher than in Pakistan in 2011.
