Karachi, Dec 31(ANI): The Jamaat-e-Islami party Balochistan's condition is similar to that of Bangladesh prior to its independence in 1971.
It demanded "an end to the unannounced military operation and the role of the [intelligence] agencies" and urged the country's Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of the situation to restore peace in Pakistan's troubled Balochistan province.
The party has also demanded that the country's military leaders, including former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf be brought to book before the court for committing human rights violations in Balochistan.
"It is not just bad, it has gone far beyond that," The Express Tribune quoted JI leader Asadullah Bhutto, as saying, referring to the situation in Balochistan.
The JI leaders said there were "no prospects for progress" in Balochistan and highlighted injustices meted out to people, as well as deplorable economic conditions in the province.
Baloch leader Sardar Ataullah Mengal highlighted the targeted killings of Punjabi inhabitants in the province.
He said the Pakistan army seems to be performing their role in Punjab province only and questioned why the country was indifferent to massive killings in Karachi. (ANI)
