New York, Dec 31 (ANI): The Latin American channel that asked if Jews were responsible for Jesus' death in a Facebook poll has apologized after being slammed by Jewish human rights activists.
A Fox spokeswoman of the Fox Latin America has publicly apologized and said the poll was immediately removed, the New York Daily News reported.
According a foreign news agency, a staff of the channel posted a poll on the Spanish-language network's Facebook as part of a promotion of a National Geographic Channel Christmas special asking "Who do you think is responsible for the death of Christ."
The answers, according to Mediate.com, were: "A. Pontius Pilate, B. Jewish People, and C. High Priests."
The Simon Wiesenthal Center office in Buenos Aires slammed the poll, telling that it's an obvious reference to archaic views of the Catholic Church which "resulted in the persecution and murder of Jews for two millennia" and were rejected by the Vatican back in 1965.
And in case there was any doubt on the Church's position, Pope Benedict XVI very publicly exonerated the Jewish people for the death of Jesus Christ in his book, "Jesus of Nazareth Part II," released in March.
In "Jesus of Nazareth Part II" excerpts released Wednesday, Benedict explains biblically and theologically why there is no basis in Scripture for the argument that the Jewish people as a whole were responsible for Jesus' death.(ANI)
