Islamabad, Dec 31(ANI): Pakistan's paramilitary force, Rangers, has started taking over highly sensitive US cargo stranded in the country following the sealing of the NATO supply line as a response to the November 26 airstrike that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.
Sources told the Express News that Pakistan's 'high authorities' have ordered the Rangers to take over the US cargo containing military hardware and ammunition till the government took a decision regarding the re-opening of the NATO supply route.
"We have acquired a suitable place at Port Qasim where the sensitive cargo will be stored for the time being," a senior official said.
Sources said the government had initially decided to hand over the responsibility of storing cargoes to National Logistic Cell (NLC) but later chose Pakistan Rangers, The Express Tribune reports.
The Pakistan Rangers have taken possession of at least 250 cargo units so far.(ANI)
