Pak evaluating US army probe findings of deadly November 26 airstrike

Islamabad, Dec 30(ANI): Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Abdul Basit has said the country's parliament is evaluating the US probe report on the deadly NATO November 26 airstrike that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.

 

"To the best of my knowledge, the US report is still under evaluation," The Nation quoted him, as saying.

 

He stressed that Pakistan wants its ties with the US to be based on mutual trust and mutual respect.

 

He denied that communications between both sides had broken down for some time.

 

Basit highlighted national security and development as two aspects of Pakistan's foreign policy and stressed that the country is proud of its ties with China.

 

Basit said Pakistan is also trying to enhance ties with Russia and has better relations with Iran and Turkey.

 

He said Pakistan would conduct arms control talks with India after the submission of the proposal in this regard.

 

Basit also said Pakistan wants the Kashmir issue to be resolved on the basis of the UN resolution.

 

Assessing the success of Pakistan's foreign policy in 2011, he said relations with China has reached new heights and stressed that several high- profile visits took place in the year.

 

He said Pakistan's relations with the European Union and G-8 countries had moved a step ahead with the agreement reached over the five-year engagement plan. (ANI)
