Beijing, December 29(ANI): China's energy spending is 2.2 times more than the world average according to Zhang Ping, Director of the National Development and Reform Commission.
He also said that China is not independent on mineral resources and largely relies on other countries for its mineral resources requirements, Legal Evening News reported.
For example, more than half of China's petroleum and iron ore needs are fulfilled by imports from other countries.
The fact that China has witnessed annual growth at an average of 11.2 per cent, it explains the heavy requirement of natural resources by China and its dependence on other countries for it.
The annual increase in energy consumption of China is 6.6, The China Daily reports.
Zhang also stressed on the fact that in 2012 the government's annual investment in rural areas will surpass one trillion Yuan ($158 million), which would be a historical moment in itself. (ANI)
