Islamabad, Dec 27(ANI): The Pakistani federation has slammed the memo as a pack of lies, adding that it indicates US-based businessman Mansoor Ijaz's attempt to pitch the country's institutions against one another.
It said Inter-Services Intelligence chief Lieutenant General Ahmad Shuja Pasha should have informed Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani of his meeting with Ijaz, in a reply to the affidavits filed by army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and General Pasha in connection with the Memo Gate probe.
Pakistan's Interior Secretary Khawaja Muhammad Siddique Akbar has submitted an 18-page affidavit on behalf of the federation in compliance with the country's Supreme Court order, The Daily Times reports.
The federation questioned as to why General Kayani took so long to report the Memo Gate scandal to Gilani after being informed about the issue by General Pasha on October 24, 2011.
The federation denied that the alleged memo marked an attempt to weaken the morale of Pakistan's military, pointing out that Pakistan has the 8th largest army in the world. (ANI)
