Islamabad, Dec 23(ANI): Former Pakistan cricketer Imran Khan is the most popular political leader in Pakistan and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party is viewed as more popular, capable and trustworthy as compared to its counterparts, a new survey has shown.
The YouGovpoll found that sixty percent of the respondents said the PTI is most likely to eradicate corruption and nepotism in Pakistan as compared to six percent for PML-N four percent for Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and five percent for Pakistan People's Party.
Sixty percent of respondents said they would vote for the PTI, as compared to nine percent for PML-N and three percent for PPP.
Eighty-one percent respondents picked up Imran Khan as capable of leading Pakistan.
Nawaz Sharif was chosen by 18 percent, while President Asif Ali Zardari was chosen by two percent of respondents.
"What the polls help to show is that a growing number of Pakistanis seem prepared to abandon the old parties and consider the PTI as a viable alternative. As the numbers also suggest, many voters agree with Imran Khan that the two biggest threats to Pakistan's survival are endemic corruption and Pakistan's current support of US foreign policy in Afghanistan and the tribal areas," The News quoted Dr Joel Faulkner Rogers of YouGov-Cambridge, as saying.
The poll also found that respondents ranked 'corruption within Pakistan' as number one threat confronting Pakistan followed by issues like the United States, extremist militants hailing from the country, India, foreign militants and Afghanistan. (ANI)
