Zardari consults legal team for replying to Pak Supreme Court's Memo Gate probe

Islamabad, Tue, 20 Dec 2011 ANI

Islamabad, Dec 20(ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has consulted his legal team to form his reply to a Supreme Court probe into the Memo Gate scandal.

Pakistan Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said discussions on the scandal were underway and the outcome would be announced soon, The Express Tribune reports.

The Express Tribune reported that Awan's statement came after Zardari returned home following completion of his medical treatment in Dubai.

Presidential spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said Zardari would arrive in Islamabad from Karachi over the next few days to resume his presidential duties.

Though Zardari's return has taken a lot of pressure off the Pakistan Peoples Party, its members said the government is yet to face the worst.

PPP members, requesting anonymity, said Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is the key player in handling the prevailing crisis in the country during Zardari's absence.

A PPP central executive committee member said party members have reposed faith in Gilani and his reconciliation strategy.

They said the PPP's parliamentary party meeting assured the members that prevailing situation in the country would normalize soon. (ANI)
