Islamabad, Dec 17 (ANI): President Asif Ali Zardari has said imposing Article 47 of the Pakistani Constitution is meaningless because his health has improved in Dubai, but he has not been permitted by doctors to travel back to Pakistan.
Clause One of Article 47 says the President may, in accordance with the provisions of this Article, be removed from office on the ground of physical or mental incapacity or impeached on a charge of violating the Constitution or gross misconduct.
Zardari, however, insisted that such a move was unnecessary.
"If it is done, then my manifesto will be "Aisay Dastoor ko Main Nahi Manta (I deny such a constitution)," The Nation quoted Zardari, as saying.
Zardari said his children wanted him to complete his treatment before returning home.
Following his admission in a Dubai hospital, many in Pakistan and across the world speculated that the Memo Gate controversy had led to Zardari having medical complications.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq has said President Asif Ali Zardari has not submitted his reply on the Memo Gate issue.
"I have no instructions on filing the president's reply," Haq said.
Haq said the court could be informed about Zardari's health in case it insisted on a reply from him. (ANI)
