London, Dec 17(ANI): British-Indian businessman Shrien Dewani will have to wait until 2012 for a court verdict that will decide whether he is to be extradited to South Africa in connection with his wife, Anni's murder.
He is appealing a decision by British Home Minister Theresa May, who signed his extradition order.
Dewani, 31, has denied being involved in the murder of his wife. Anni Dewani was shot dead in a taxi in Cape Town during an apparent car- jacking incident in November 2010.
A Judicial Office spokesperson said all sides had now agreed there was no need for further cross-examination and that the verdict would be delivered next year, News 24 reports.
"The court will now consider the papers and arguments. Judgment will be delivered in the course of the next legal term, which begins on January 11, 2012," the spokesperson said.
The high court heard that Dewani was undergoing treatment in a mental hospital for suffering severe depression and stress and was too ill to stand trial.
Dewani's lawyer Clare Montgomery had told the court that Shrien might commit suicide, if he was extradited to South Africa. (ANI)
