London, Dec.16 (ANI): A school where the majority of pupils do not speak English as their first language has achieved the best exam results in England.
More than three-quarters of pupils of Newton Farm School in Harrow, north-west London are from minority ethnic groups, mainly Indian and other Asian backgrounds.
Youngsters at the school gained the highest average points score in their SATs tests.
According to The Sun, over 90 per cent of Year 6 pupils achieved a Level 5 - one above the standard expected of the age group - in both Maths and English.
That is despite the fact that 62 per cent do not speak English as their first language.
Head teacher Rekha Bhakoo said: "The school provides a really well-rounded education while the foundations are absolutely rock solid. I believe our success is down to the rigour with which we look after our children. Their behaviour is exemplary - we don't have detention or anything like that at our school. The children know their rights and their responsibilities."
Newton Farm caters for 200 pupils aged four to 11, and has been hailed as one of London's top primaries. (ANI)
