Pakistan communicating again with US-led coalition: NATO

Kabul, Wed, 14 Dec 2011 ANI

Kabul, Dec 14 (ANI): A top NATO commander in Afghanistan has said there are signs of Pakistan taking steps to gradually lift its communications blackout imposed on the US-led coalition following the recent NATO attack that killed Pakistani 24 troops.

The Daily Times quoted Marine General John as saying that during his telephonic conversation with Pakistan Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, both the leaders expressed a commitment to work through the incident.

He says he believes Pakistan will soon send liaison officials back to NATO headquarters in Kabul that were pulled after the November 26 deadly incident.

Allen, however, made it clear that the duo did not discuss when Pakistan would reopen its border crossings to NATO convoys transporting supplies for troops in Afghanistan.

He made his comments shortly after Defense Secretary Leon Panetta arrived in Afghanistan unannounced to talk with commanders about the war. (ANI)
