Islamabad, Dec 12 (ANI): International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Commander in Afghanistan General John R Allen has said that a repeat of Mohmand-type mishap cannot be guaranteed.
"You simply can't guarantee anything in war. The conditions are difficult at the border, let the investigation play out, we will look carefully. If we find fault on our part, we will resolve that ... we will look at every aspect of the circumstances to make sure it does not happen again," The Daily Times quoted General Allen, as saying.
He denied the allegations that the recent NATO attack on two Pakistani military posts was deliberate.
"The allegation that it was an intentional act is simply not true, defies every logic why we would attack Pakistan or attack Pakistani troops. As commander of ISAF and of US troops, I give you my assurance that it was not an intentional attack and it is important I say that publicly," General Allen added.
The NATO attack that had killed 24 Pakistani soldiers had led to a huge outrage in that country, leading Islamabad to boycott the Bonn Conference on the future of Afghanisan.
The US also had to pay the price by vacating the Shamsi air base over the same issue. (ANI)
