US wants safe heavens of terrorists curbed in Pakistan

Islamabad, Dec 10 (ANI): Chairman US Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey has said that safe havens of terrorists in Pakistan and the country's influence on Afghanistan must be eliminated.

 

The Nation quoted him, as saying that the Taliban and Haqqani Network could influence the Loya Jirga in Afghanistan.

 

Dempsey added that the US had achieved its military targets in Afghanistan and was considering asking its allies (Afghan partners) to do more.

 

The US General further said that the NATO attack in Mohmand Agency was not intentional. We did not attack the Pakistani checkposts and are waiting for the results of the investigation, what did we have to gain from this attack?" the paper quoted Dempsey, as saying.

 

He further said that he had spoken to Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani about the attack and relations with Pakistan. (ANI)
