Bonn, Dec 6(ANI): China will lend further support to the United Nations' missions and strengthen its cooperation with the world organization, the country's Foreign Minister, Yang Jiechi, has said.
"China is willing to further support the missions of the United Nations and the work of its Secretary-General and strengthen its cooperation with the UN to promote world peace, security and development," The China Daily quoted Jiechi, as saying.
The role of the UN has become more significant in the wake of the complex and rapidly changing international scenario, he said.China appreciates the efforts of the United Nations in Afghanistan's reconstruction process and supports the UN in continuing to play a leading role in coordinating international aids to Afghanistan and promoting its political reconstruction," he added.
China also expressed desire to enhance communication and coordination with the UN to speed up solution to the Afghan issue.N Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon lauded China's role in international issues including the Afghan issue, and said UN was willing to enhance cooperation with the country.he meeting between two sides took place on the sidelines of the Bonn summit on the Afghan issue.
